Sales trading
Nomura Code offers a market service to our institutional clients by providing their central dealing desks with a continuous flow of information about trading activity in the life sciences stocks in which we specialise. This information flow may include short–term trading ideas, initial reaction to results in the sector, bids and offers in stocks where we may be currently active, news of block trades, programme trades, agency crosses or any trading volume out of the ordinary. Furthermore our Sales Trading function also provides an excellent execution service to these same dealing desks through our specialist knowledge of which institutions are interested in buying or selling life science stocks at any given time. By using our network of market contacts we are able to secure best prices for all clients wishing to direct their business to Nomura Code.

Market making
Nomura Code is a registered marketmaker in over 40 healthcare and cleantech stocks including those of all our corporate clients. This marketmaking list is divided between full listings and those which are listed on AIM. As a marketmaker our objective is to provide liquidity in these stocks either directly to our institutional clients or indirectly to private clients via retail brokers. Where necessary we have the means to commit capital to ensure that our clients are able to execute their orders in our marketmaking stocks at the best possible prices, which is a particularly valuable service in small companies whose shares are less actively traded. As a marketmaker we are also responsible for maintaining an orderly market in our clients’ shares at all times. Thanks to our relationships with leading institutional and retail brokers we have established a strong, sometimes dominant marketmaking position in the life sciences sector.
